Portrait of the artist standing next to their art.

Black artist, currently based in Oregon.  My art helps me to reclaim my humanity as I process what it means to live here and now. This collection has been pulled from across 8 or so years. It includes older 2D works as well as 3D sculptures. I don’t always have the means to select the perfect frame, paint, clay-tool etc. So, often I find myself rummaging through discount bins, scouring marketplace looking for inexpensive art supplies, or just using trash that the wind blows my way.  Sometimes I worry that people dismiss my art once they see the low budget (and the lack of formal training). Nothing I can do about that. I welcome praise and gentle feedback, but if nothing else please know this:

I hope you can connect with my art.

I want you to think my art is cool.

I hope my art can spur your creativity.

The name, "C's Asylum" is in reference to a sign that hung in my fathers kitchen. The sign signified his dominion over the kitchen and involvement in the art the kitchen produced.  The power of that sign, hand carved in wood by my father, lingers in my bones to this very day. I am proud to be its new warden.

Both my parents are artists but have never been afforded the opportunity to pursue art as I have. I have them to thank for all my artistic talent. Their support has been invaluable, and I carry their dreams forward with each piece.
